What is the most difficult part of the UPSC exam?

No doubt the whole preparation thing is difficult.
  • Studying the vast sea of syllabus is difficult.
  • Memorising those national parks and endangered parks is difficult
  • Keeping a track of plethora of schemes is difficult
  • Writing 20 questions in 180 minutes is difficult.
  • Facing questions from relatives and friends that why you failed in prelims or why clearing one exam is taking years is difficult.
  • Leaving your job for UPSC exam is difficult.
And soo on.
But there is one thing I find the most difficult:
‘Checking your roll number on that dreaded PDF file.’
That too thrice . At every stage the stakes are high. PDF files at every stage of exam drops like a bomb. One moment you are studying and the other you get a message from a friend that “result is out” .
The most difficult moment : Opening your laptop , downloading the result , opening PDF and zillion thoughts going in your mind.
After finding your name in Prelims result PDF , you heave a sigh of relief as you are still in the race. Also you feel proud that out of around 6 Lakhs aspirants , ~11k were choosen and you are one of them

Next comes the Mains result PDF. It is the most difficult part. You spent one whole year preparing plus those extremely testing 5 days of mains examination. One click and you get your ticket to THE UPSC BHAVAN or atleast you can tell your future generations that
Ki hum bhi UPSC ki interview dekar aae the :D
The next difficult part is checking the final result, the rank list. Your heart is racing , and it is the final moment. Cntrl +F +enter and Voila !! Your name is there , and whole life takes a 360 degree turn.

Rest I feel the journey is long but not difficult. Your hardwork ,persistence and consistency can make this exam a cake walk.

Economy and Polity portion is well covered and provides adequate base for both pre and mains. b. In history ancient and culture part coverage is abysmal and although Ojha sir's classes (modern history) are entertaining he tends to skip some topics and/or provide  ephemeral coverage - but the classes are really good and what he covers you tend to remember for long periods. c. Science and Tech coverage is not good - too much depth of biology and current developments not given adequate coverage - further it is aimed only at pre and not at mains  d. This is the most important question one always keep thinking about during upsc preparation. The reason being that too much or less of material will equally create challenges in your preparation. Read:-  top IAS coaching in Delhi joined by the toppers Moreover,  choosing the right sources and revision of these resources is the most crucial part of your preparation. HOW MANY SEATS UPSC WILL RELEASE THIS YEAR 2019?

Well as of now we all are waiting for the number of seats UPSC will release this year. Few people are saying there will be very less seats. Few people are saying there will be seats in UPSC examination like previous year that has 900 to 1000. Taking into account the previous 4–5 years data , around 180 candidates have been short listed to join IAS out of around 1000 total selected. But with the regular decrease in the total no. of vacancies,[ like for year 2018 its only 782 seats ] one can fairly decrease the number of IAS posts also. Life is tough if you are from general category and aspire to join IAS as 1st choice. In that case you must secure rank within 70–80. although its only a calculation of mine but believe me, hoping to get IAS by securing a lower rank than this can only be a miracle and that too specially in 2018.
