Adda: In north kolkata where I live in people after a days work sit in parks, street corners and several other areas for discussing on topics. It ranges from politics to religion to sports to culture. Every Bengali is a political commentator in their own terms. Arguments on CPM vs TMC vs BJP and Mohun bagan vs East Bengal are the most fierce and your eardrums might burst if you are in close proximity to those discussions.

Food and music: This is a city where you can find Japanese, Mexican, Italian, Afgan and Middle-East, Thai and Chinese restaurants and all have good customer base. This shows the diversity and experimental nature in terms of eating out. Every Bengali is a foodie including me. The music scene in Park Street even today is electrifying where new bands play it out in different pubs in front of packed audiences. Even in music there are arguments on Fossils vs Cactus, Rabindrasangeet vs all other forms of music, Kishore Kumar vs Mohmd Rafi, Uttam Kumar vs Soumitra Chatterjee and people can spent hours and days discussing arguing and trying to prove that they are right. My parents always have a fight with me as I am into hard rock and parents into Tagore and old songs of 70s.

Transport: The best in the country. No comparison. Bus, auto, train,metro, waterways, taxi, tram…. No other city has so many modes of transport and its easy to travel.

There are other things like free of cost advice. From dress to food to relationship expert advice is available everywhere. This has made me tired and now a days i make good use of my headphones.

You know what, its the very common question.  Jisai bhi IAS ki taiyari karni hai usai Vajiram and Ravi Definately pata hai!! well,  let me tell you facts a. Economy and Polity portion is well covered and provides adequate base for both pre and mains. b. In history ancient and culture part coverage is abysmal and although Ojha sir's classes (modern history) are entertaining he tends to skip some topics and/or provide  ephemeral coverage - but the classes are really good and what he covers you tend to remember for long periods. c. Science and Tech coverage is not good - too much depth of biology and current developments not given adequate coverage - further it is aimed only at pre and not at mains  d. Topics like International Relations, Disaster Mgmt, security issues, etc are not covered  e. geography - during my preparation the teacher spent too much time on physical aspects and hardly covered Indian geography - was a big waste of time. This is the most important question one always keep thinking about during upsc preparation. The reason being that too much or less of material will equally create challenges in your preparation. HOW MANY SEATS UPSC WILL RELEASE THIS YEAR 2019?

Well as of now we all are waiting for the number of seats UPSC will release this year. Few people are saying there will be very less seats. Few people are saying there will be seats in UPSC examination like previous year that has 900 to 1000. Taking into account the previous 4–5 years data , around 180 candidates have been short listed to join IAS out of around 1000 total selected. But with the regular decrease in the total no. of vacancies,[ like for year 2018 its only 782 seats ] one can fairly decrease the number of IAS posts also. Life is tough if you are from general category and aspire to join IAS as 1st choice. In that case you must secure rank within 70–80. although its only a calculation of mine but believe me, hoping to get IAS by securing a lower rank than this can only be a miracle and that too specially in 2018.
